Presenting Markson Ombati, a 19-year old from Team Warspark in Kangemi, Kenya. A wallflower in the beginning, Markson has really come into his own since he joined Photo Start, and he is one of our rising stars. Markson is very confident and decisive behind the camera, knows the pictures he wants, and will do what it takes to get them.
Markson was one of three students selected to work on a special Photo Start assignment photographing a community football match. This was the perfect opportunity to learn how to work with varying light conditions, freeze moments, capture emotions and deliver a body of work that encapsulates the mood and energy of the game. One of the match organizers was so impressed with Markson’s images that he offered him a paying job to shoot future matches!
Markson’s successes have lit a flame within other students, giving them hope that they, too, can go for the gold!
Here is a collection of some of Markson’s photos.
Valuable skills. Valuable connections.
That is how Photo Start is ending the cycle of poverty and creating a future in focus for our students. You can light the way for more students like Markson with a contribution to our Be The Light campaign.
