We met Issac Odour when he joined Photo Start’s current program at Simama Community Based Organization in Nairobi, Kenya and he quickly impressed us with his natural talent for photography and enthusiasm for learning. He was very excited to continue developing his skills and looking forward to translating his passion into a career, as you can hear from his pre-program interview:

Sadly, Issac passed away unexpectedly in July. Not only was this a great loss for his friends, family, and community, but one for the photography world as well. Issac’s photos showed great promise and there’s no telling what impact he may have made through his work.

Everyone he knew at Simama was hit hard by the sudden loss of someone who they admired and his presence in the classroom was deeply missed. Amidst their grief, Issac’s fellow students decided to use the skills they had learned in their Photo Start course to honor their friend with this touching tribute:

We thank the students at Simama for reminding us all about the power of expressing our feelings through the medium of photography/videography. Our hearts are with Issac’s friends and loved ones, and we hope you will keep them in your thoughts as well.
